Question  Is taking pain-killers harmful?
Answer: : If someone is taking pain killers without understanding the cause of pain, it is like hitting the target with closed eyes. Pain killers will reduce your pain for a while but it is not treating the source of pain.
Question  I have disc prolapse, shall I bend forward?
Answer:  In acute stages of disc prolapse, forward bending is restricted, but later on forward bending is healthy for spine. Because it is primary movement of spine in functional range which provides nutrition to all the structures in spine including the disc.
Question  I have cervical issue, age related changes are there in MRI, shall I wear collar?
Answer:  Cervical term is used for neck in medical terminology. As per latest researches 55% of age related changes are there at the age of the 30 years, 90% age related changes are there at the age of 50. So don’t get worried about MRI reports. MRI findings needs to be correlated with clinical presentation (Signs and symptoms), that is why MRI reports have a common opinion by Radiologists “PLEASE CORRELATE CLINICALLY ’’.Cervical collar is a passive support to the neck, it is an option in early stages of treatment .Neck exercise are the main stay for neck muscles strengthening so it can support neck without any collar. If your neck muscles are strong enough to support the neck, than collar has no treatment value to you.
Question  How I will be treated by osteopath expert?
Answer:  It starts with introduction, your chief complains, medical history, discussion on sign and symptoms, observational analysis for movement, posture, and gait. This is followed by physical examination. After reaching a conclusion diagnosis is explained then treatment goal sharing is done with explanation how the treatment is going to help you.
Question  I have knee Osteoarthritis, shall I stop squatting?
Answer: knee pain while doing a squat is because of two reasons, wrong squat due to muscular imbalance and insufficiency and compromised structures in knee joint due arthritis. If you don’t have pain while doing squats please continue, no need to avoid it.
If you have pain after a certain range of movement. Go for functional evaluation. First you need to identify fault in the movement with the help of Physio, then correct the movement in squat by treating muscular imbalance and insufficiency. Then go for investigation if problem is not resolved.
Question  Does cross legged sitting have a bad effect on knee?
Answer:  No, our ancestors are practicing yoga from ages and to me Padmasana is an advance level of cross legged sitting. It is no-where unhealthy for the knee. In our Vedic culture lot of activities like Bhajan-Pujan are practiced in cross legged sitting from ages. So if it was bad it could’t have come so far as a practice. Yes few individuals’ experiences pain while sitting cross legged which can be resolved with proper treatment.
Question  I have lower back pain from 5 years, lifting any weight gives me same trouble again and again, what should I do?
Answer:  Whenever you are lifting anything tuck in your abdomen, breath in and squeeze your hip at hip this will activate your core muscle group and prepares your back for external load which you are going to lift. Long term solution is core muscle training under supervision.
Question  what is the criterion for choosing cold pack or hot pack for pain relief?
Answer:  In case of immediate injury / acute inflammation with swelling where temperature of the injured area is raised cold pack is the treatment of choice. Don’t apply cold pack for more than 15 minutes at a stretch.
For stiff areas and chronic inflammatory pains which are there from a long time, hot pack is useful. 10-15 Min application is good enough.
Question  What type of exercises are good for me?
Answer:  Exercises prescription is based on goals and present status of the individual. Visit to your Physical therapist once will prepare an individualized program for you.
Question  What are the signs of overtraining?
Answer:  Decrement in performance despite of regular exercise, soreness in multiple muscle groups, raised body temperature in morning hours, raised ESR are common features of overtraining.
Question  I have been advised Surgery, can your treatment help me to avoid it?
Answer:  Sometimes surgery is unavoidable, but for every good Orthopaedic expert conservative treatment is the first choice. Different age groups have different orthopedic issues, Medicines/injections/Surgery/Physiotherapy are the treatment options for them. Safest treatment option without any side effect is Physiotherapy. Manual Therapy is the first choice of treatment for Neck Pain (Bone and Joint Decade 2000–2010 Task Force on neck pain and Its Associated Disorders.
Physiotherapy is the first treatment of choice for Shoulder pain as per British Medical Journal 2013.
Physiotherapy is the first treatment of choice in Spinal Stenosis (Where the canal space is compromised for nerves and blood vessels in spine).American Physical Therapy Association (2015).
Structured exercise and Spinal manipulations are preferred choices of treatment for Disc prolapse (North American Spine Society, 2012)
In 2014 Osteoarthritis Research Society International published guidelines for the treatment of Osteoarthritis which includes following Physiotherapeutic Intervention in osteoarthritis biomechanical correction, exercises (land-based and water-based) strength training, Electrotherapy (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, Ultrasound and Neuromuscular electrical stimulation).
In Tennis elbow supervised Exercise therapy is the first treatment choice (The Scientific World JournaL, 2012).

Answer:  After any surgery Physiotherapy is a must now. We provide these services with utmost care and individual attention. We also provide home exercise program with images of exercises, written instructions with exact dosage and frequency of exercise, so that when the patient is unable to come to clinic they can perform exercises on their own.
